ONE NIGHTERS

This summer Art of This Gallery has been presenting a "One-Nighter" series, single evening, multi-media and multi-disciplinary events produced by various artists - painters, sculptors, performers, musicians, filmmakers, etc. The following are short synopses of the remaining one-night events. Thank you for your consideration.

Saturday, July 26 - Tynan Kerr and Andie Mazerol present "A Masterpiece." This pair of young local artists will combine painting and music by themselves and other local artists, the content of which we have no freaking clue. Their work has been all over town lately so you know they are working hard which is probably why they are a little flighty and difficult to get a hold of, so seriously, this one will be a surprise for all of us.

Friday, August 8 - Students, past and present, from Vesper College present Volverse Un Ocho, in a semi-collaborative installation project that applies the school's principles and ecologically-based design, sculpture and architecture. For more information please visit www.vespercollege.com

Saturday, August 16 - The Rotarians Society, from Madison, WI, an art group/gentlemen's club will welcome Tate® Fabrication to announce their exciting new line of IMPEL products. Members of the press have described IMPEL as “visually stunning.” A presentation of a mock product launch for a fictional corporation that makes an elaborate and industrial-looking contraption that basically just pounds a square peg through a round hole, this program begins promptly at 8:00, and guests are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited.

Saturday, September 13 - Local artist/performer/curator Aaron Ridgeway presents "Birth/Death," a large collaboration with other artists, both local and international, of 2-d, 3-d, video and performance based on metaphysical questions of the existence of the universe and the beginning and ending to life. Other artists participating in the event include Hardland/Heartland, Lindsay Smith, Joe Rizzo and Nik Kosmas.

Friday, September 19 - Apocalypse of Dreams OR Shoot the Moon! is presented by local artists and University of Minnesota alum Brennan Vance, Sam Soule, Katinka Galanos, Hunter Jonakin and Pete McLarnan. A multi-faceted installation of video, sculpture photography and other conceptual pieces, this event creates narrative threads based on ideas of childhood/adolescence, dreams/aspirations and the way theses childhood dreams go unrealized. Visit http: //medlakesurvival.blogspot.com/ for a sample of a past collaborative project.

Saturday, September 27 - Mason Hall presents Film and Video, featuring the work of Dawn Kasper (LA), Maron Studios (LA) and Academy Records (CHI). Hall, a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute and recent addition to the Minneapolis arts community, looks to expand the bounds of the Art of This programming, reaching well outside the local area to bring in these exciting and theatrical video projects.
